They announced their progress in developing solid-state batteries, even claiming to have the capability to produce small-capacity, all-solid-state soft-pack cells. This is huge! It signifies a potential leap forward in EV technology.
You see, traditional lithium-ion batteries, while pretty good, have their limitations. They use liquid electrolytes, which pose safety risks like flammability. Solid-state batteries, on the other hand, use solid electrolytes. This not only makes them safer but also opens doors for higher energy density. Imagine driving much farther on a single charge! That’s what gets me excited.
I’ve read about how solid-state batteries are still in the early stages of development, with different types like semi-solid, quasi-solid, and all-solid-state being researched. It seems like Great Wall Motor is focusing on all-solid-state, which is the most advanced and safest type. It’s a bold move and shows their commitment to pushing the boundaries.
