So, Google is at it again! Just saw the news about Google Wallet raising its minimum Android version to Android 9. Honestly, I get why they’re doing it – security and all that jazz. But, a part of me can’t help but feel a little annoyed, especially as someone who’s quite attached to my old phone. It’s still going strong, you know? It’s a bit of a wake-up call, though. I remember when Google Wallet first came out; I was so excited to try it! Back then, my phone was still running Android 5, and it worked just fine. Then they bumped it up to Android 7, which, thankfully, my phone could still handle. Now it’s Android 9! I guess it makes sense, though. Android 9 came out in 2018, so it’s been a while. And it’s true that my old phone hasn’t been getting those security updates as regularly as it used to. The funny thing is, I don’t even use Google Wallet all that much. I’m more of a cash guy, to be honest. But it’s the principle of the thing, you know? It feels like I’m being forced to upgrade, even though my phone still works perfectly fine for everything else. I know, I know, everyone’s probably thinking I’m being stubborn. Maybe I am a little. But it’s just hard to say goodbye to a phone that’s been with me through thick and thin, you know? It’s got all my photos, my music, and countless memories.I guess I have until June 10th to make up my mind. Maybe I’ll finally bite the bullet and upgrade. Or maybe I’ll just stick with my old pal and find another way to pay. Who knows? Either way, it’s got me thinking about the relentless march of technology and how quickly things become obsolete.
