So, I was reading on 快科技 that Huawei is ditching Android completely and going full-steam ahead with HarmonyOS by the end of the year! Honestly, this has been a long time coming. I remember when the whole US ban thing went down, it was clear Huawei needed a Plan B. And HarmonyOS is shaping up to be a pretty compelling Plan B.

It’s kind of wild to think about a world with a third major player in the smartphone OS game. iOS and Android have been the only game in town for so long. But Huawei is really pushing to make HarmonyOS a serious contender. They’re saying the next version, which is supposed to launch with the Mate 70, will have 4,000 apps ready to go right out of the gate. That includes big names like Alipay and McDonald’s!

And apparently, they’re aiming to have 5,000 apps by the end of the year and a whopping 500,000 in the near future. Those are some ambitious targets, but if anyone can pull it off, it’s probably Huawei. They’ve always been known for their drive and innovation.

What really excites me is that HarmonyOS was built from the ground up. It wasn’t just some Android fork or anything like that. It was originally designed for IoT devices, but Huawei realized they needed their own fully-fledged OS to escape the pressure from outside forces.

I’ve always been a bit of a Huawei fan. Their phones are sleek, powerful, and they really push the boundaries of what’s possible. I’m really curious to see how HarmonyOS matures and what kind of user experience it offers. Will it be a worthy competitor to iOS and Android? Only time will tell, but I’m cautiously optimistic! It takes guts to build your own OS from scratch and try to challenge the established giants. I’m rooting for Huawei to succeed. A little more competition in the smartphone world can only be a good thing for consumers like me.
