Tim Cook turning 64 got me thinking – who’s next in line at Apple? For years, we all assumed it’d be Jeff Williams, the COO. But honestly, he’s almost the same age as Cook! It wouldn’t really solve the whole succession problem in the long run, would it?

Lately, I’ve been hearing whispers about John Ternus. You know, the hardware engineering VP? He’s been at Apple since 2001, and apparently, he’s a bit of a rockstar within the company. Everyone seems to respect him, and he’s got this calm, collected aura – kinda like Cook, actually.

What strikes me is that Ternus is just 49! That means he could potentially lead Apple for decades. I can’t help but think that’s a huge plus for the board. They want stability, someone who can carry the torch for a long time, not just a few years.

Think about it: Cook’s been at the helm for over a decade, and he’s done an incredible job. Apple’s market cap has skyrocketed, they’ve launched some groundbreaking products, and they’re still seen as a leader in innovation. But finding someone to fill those shoes? That’s a tall order!

I’m not saying Ternus is a shoo-in or anything. There are probably other candidates we don’t even know about. But the more I read about him, the more I get this feeling… like he might just be the guy. He’s got the experience, the technical chops, and the temperament. And let’s be honest, a fresh face at the top could be exciting for Apple. It’s a new era, and maybe it’s time for a new leader to take the reins.

Of course, only time will tell what happens. But I’m definitely keeping my eye on John Ternus. He might just be the next big thing at Apple. And hey, if he can make my iPhone battery last longer, I’m all for it!
