Okay, so I’ll admit, I was intrigued when I heard Moondrop, a brand I mostly knew for their earphones, was launching a phone. The MIAD01? Didn’t sound like a phone name at all! But then I saw it, this sleek blue device, and I was hooked. It wasn’t just the color, though that was pretty cool. The design was different, almost like it had two layers. The top part, near the camera, was thicker, while the rest was slimmer. Held it in my hand, and it felt good, balanced. The textured back added to the grip and the overall feel, you know?

What really got me excited was that it had both a 4.4mm balanced and a regular 3.5mm headphone jack. Like, seriously, how many phones do you see with that? This was a music lover’s dream come true! And then they went and included Cirrus Logic MasterHiFi chips and this fancy shielded audio circuit board. It felt like they were taking audio quality seriously, not just throwing in some basic components. I mean, it even supports SBC, AAC, and LDAC! I haven’t tested its limits yet, but come on, with this setup, it’s gotta be good, right?

I dug into the music player app, and wow, it was like a playground for audiophiles! So many settings to tweak, you could really fine-tune the sound to your liking. It felt like they designed this for people who really care about how their music sounds.

Now, the rest of the phone is decent, don’t get me wrong. It’s got a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, the usual stuff. The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen is sharp and smooth with a 120Hz refresh rate. The camera setup is a dual-lens thing with a 64MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide. Not bad, not amazing, just…there. Honestly, the camera wasn’t my focus with this phone.

Battery life seems solid, especially for music playback. They say you can get 27 hours of continuous music through the balanced output. Plus, it’s got 33W fast charging, so topping it up shouldn’t be a hassle.

Overall, the MIAD01 is a fascinating device. It’s not your typical smartphone. It’s like a portable music player that also happens to make calls and browse the internet. For someone like me, who’s always got music playing, this is a tempting proposition. The audio capabilities alone make it stand out. Plus, it’s priced reasonably, especially for what it offers. If you’re serious about your music, this phone is definitely worth checking out!
