So, I finally did it. I caved and bought the new iPad Pro. 1TB, Wi-Fi + Cellular, the whole shebang. And yes, I splurged on the Nano-texture glass. I’d heard whispers about this mythical, almost magical screen that reduced glare and felt like silk beneath your fingertips. Honestly? The hype is real. It’s beautiful, almost paper-like, and makes drawing and note-taking feel incredibly natural.

But then came the catch. The dreaded cleaning cloth.

Apple is VERY specific about this thing. You get this little grey square of microfiber with the iPad, and you’re told, in no uncertain terms, that this is the ONLY thing you should use to clean the Nano-texture glass. No Windex, no paper towels, not even that super-soft t-shirt you use for your glasses. Nope, just this one, solitary cloth.

At first, I admit, I scoffed. I’m a practical person, and the idea of needing a dedicated cleaning cloth for my iPad screen seemed a bit… extra. Couldn’t I just use whatever was handy? Well, the internet (and Apple) assured me that no, no I could not. Apparently, other materials could scratch or damage the special surface. So, begrudgingly, I started using the official cloth.

It’s… fine. It does the job. It cleans the screen, doesn’t leave streaks, and my iPad is as pristine as the day I bought it. But honestly, it feels a bit like a ritualistic sacrifice every time I need to wipe away a fingerprint. I’m constantly worried about losing it (RM99 for a replacement?!) and feel a bit ridiculous carrying it around.

There’s a part of me that wishes Apple had just made the screen a little more resilient. I get it, it’s fancy tech, but still. It’s a tablet, meant to be used, touched, carried around. The constant low-grade anxiety about keeping this one little piece of fabric safe is a bit much.

All that said, I do love my iPad Pro. The screen is truly amazing, and I can’t deny the Nano-texture makes a difference. Maybe I’ll just get used to the cleaning cloth eventually. Or maybe, just maybe, I’ll live on the edge and try a different microfiber cloth one day… but don’t tell Apple! 😉
