So, vivo just launched the Y18 4G here in Malaysia, and I gotta say, for RM599, it’s looking pretty good. I’ve always been a fan of vivo’s balance between price and features, and this one seems to follow that trend.
What caught my eye first was that 90Hz LCD screen. Now, I know, it’s not AMOLED, but honestly, at this price point, a 90Hz refresh rate is a welcome addition. It just makes everything feel smoother and more responsive, especially when scrolling through social media or playing games. And that 6.56 inches is a decent size – good for watching videos, browsing, all that good stuff.
Under the hood, it’s rocking the Helio G85 processor. I’m not expecting flagship performance here, but from what I’ve seen, the G85 is a capable chipset for everyday tasks and casual gaming. Plus, there’s the 8GB of RAM, and you can even bump it up with that virtual RAM feature if you need to.
The camera setup is pretty standard for this category – 50MP main camera and an 8MP selfie camera. I’m more interested in seeing how the photos actually turn out in real-world usage. For me, good image processing is more important than just a big megapixel count.
And hey, 5000mAh battery! That’s something I can definitely get behind. Battery life is a big deal for me, and I’m hoping this phone delivers on that front. The 15W charging isn’t the fastest, but it’s understandable in this price range.
Overall, the vivo Y18 4G seems like a solid option for anyone looking for a budget-friendly phone without compromising too much on features. I’m keen to see how it performs in everyday use and whether it lives up to the hype.
