You know how it is, every month we eagerly wait for those Antutu benchmarks to drop, right? Well, May 1st rolled around, and Antutu did not disappoint, delivering their April Android phone performance rankings. And guess what? The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is STILL sitting pretty at the top!
Honestly, I wasn’t surprised. I’ve been using a phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for a while now, and the performance is just ridiculously good. It’s smooth, fast, and handles anything I throw at it. Games? No problem. Multitasking like crazy? It doesn’t even flinch. Seeing the ROG Phone 8 Pro at the top of the flagship list just solidified what I already knew – this chip is a beast! And the fact that it comes in a phone with such a low-key design is awesome. Perfect for those of us who want power without all the flashy gamer aesthetics.
But it wasn’t just about the flagships. Antutu also released their rankings for sub-flagship phones, and the new Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip made a hell of an entrance! This little guy, nicknamed the ‘baby 8 Gen 2’, snagged the top spot right out of the gate. Now, I haven’t had the chance to try this one out yet, but after seeing those numbers, I’m seriously considering it for my next phone. It seems like a perfect balance of price and performance, especially for someone like me who doesn’t need the absolute bleeding edge of flagship power.
It’s a really interesting time for phone tech right now. With these new Snapdragon chips, the lines between flagship and sub-flagship are getting blurry. It makes me wonder, do we really need to shell out the big bucks for a top-tier phone anymore? Especially with awesome mid-rangers like the OnePlus Ace 3V topping the sub-flagship charts? It’s making my decision for my next phone a lot harder, that’s for sure!
Antutu also hinted that even more phones with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 and the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 are on their way. So, yeah, if you’re thinking of upgrading soon, maybe hold off just a bit and see what else is coming down the pipeline. Trust me, with all these exciting new options popping up, it’s worth the wait!
