So, guess what? My Samsung A54 just got the One UI 6.1 update! I was pretty excited, since I’d heard a lot about it rolling out for the flagships. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting it to come to my phone so soon, so it was a nice surprise. I’m in Korea, and apparently we’re the first to get it this time around – the firmware version is A546SKSU4CXDC if you’re curious.

The update process was pretty smooth, just went to settings, software update, and boom! Downloaded and installed without any hiccups. It did take a little while to optimize everything after the install, but nothing too crazy.

I haven’t had a ton of time to play around with it yet, but I can already tell things feel a bit snappier. The animations seem smoother, and switching between apps feels faster. There are some visual tweaks too, like the notification shade looks a bit cleaner and more modern. I really dig the new camera widgets too – it’s way easier to access different shooting modes now.

Of course, I’m a bit bummed that it didn’t come with the May 2024 security patch, but hey, can’t have everything right? Overall, I’m really digging One UI 6.1 so far. It’s great that Samsung is bringing these updates to their mid-range phones, it really makes the A54 feel like a top-tier device. Now I’m just waiting for my friends in other countries to get the update so we can compare notes!
